The School of Automotive and Traffic Engineering was established in March 2016. It is composed of the former School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, the Department of Vehicle Engineering, the Department of Power Machinery and Engineering, the Department of Refrigeration and Cryogenic Engineering and the former School of Transportation Engineering (established in 2009).

The college consists of 5 departments (Department of Vehicle Engineering, Department of Energy Science and Power, Department of Refrigeration and Cryogenic Engineering, Department of Road and Traffic Engineering and Department of Transport and Logistics Engineering),11 research institutes and 1 experimental center.It has the national and local joint engineering research center of automobile technology and equipment, Anhui intelligent automobile engineering laboratory, Anhui new energy automobile provincial and ministry of collaborative innovation center, Anhui intelligent traffic vehicle road collaborative engineering research center, Anhui automobile technology and manufacturing equipment engineering research center, Anhui key laboratory of internal combustion engine emission, Anhui key laboratory of low temperature refrigeration technology, and key practice of ministry of public security of urban road traffic management and optimization technology
